Charm Square Exchange   (8" squares)

Participants need to cut 8"squares of two different fabrics that correspond to the monthly theme. Please prewash your fabrics. Bring enough for the # of participants that month and go home with a stack of new fabrics! Remember to sign up at the meetings. Send me your pictures of what you've made with your squares and I'll post it here.

2012

September: Domesticated Animals- cats, dogs, turtles, canaries, parakeets, and hamsters.

October: Farm Animals-(think e-i-e-i-o)-horses, cows, pigs, roosters and chickens, ducks, sheep, goats, and llamas.

November: Birds- robins, penquins, eagles, pelicans,sea gulls,hawks, cranes, ostriches, and owls.

2013

January: Bugs, Reptiles, and Amphibians- spiders, bees, ants, butterflies, dragonflies, beetles, lizards, snakes, and frogs.

February: Water Creatures- whales, fish, shellfish, porpoises, sharks, and dolphins.

March: Forest and Jungle Animals- monkeys, elephants, gorillas, deer, moose, and wolves.

April: Lions, and Tigers, and Bears oh! my! Koalas, zebras, giraffes, kangaroos, and camels.

May: Rodents and Rascals- raccoons, squirrels, opossum, porcupines, beavers, and chipmunks.

Calculating fabric requirements:

 

42-44" width of fabric divided by 8" = 5 squares per row

 

For 5 squares, you will need 8" of fabric

For 10 squares, you will need 16" of fabric

For 15 squares, you will need 24" of fabric

For 20 squares, you will need 32" of fabric 

For 25 squares, you will need 40" of fabric

For 30 squares, you will need 48" of fabric
