2/15/11 Lenore Crawford from Midland will present her lecture "Fusing, Fabric Painting and Stitching to Create Your Own Art Quilt".

Lenore's website is www.lenorecrawford.com Lenore's quilts are beautiful. She just received a second place in the Art-Pictorial division at the Houston IQA show last week.

2/16/11 9:30 - 4:30. Lenore Crawford Workshop, entitled "Blended Fabric Art Collage".

The workshop was SO MUCH FUN! We all actually left the workshop with a FINISHED project! When does that ever happen? And some of us started on a second project. Click here to see what we made.

3/15/11 Sue and Gina from Sew Together Quilt Shop in Richmond have agreed to be with us for a demo on new products and techniques.  It's always a pleasure to have them at our meetings to share their enthusiasm for quilting.

5/18/11 "Bloooming Flowers" Workshop on Hand Applique by Betty Ekern Suiter. 9:00 am - 3:00 pm. The cost of the workshop is $40 and the kit fee is $20.

6 Hours
12" x 12" Finished Size

Learn how to make perfect needle-turn curves and sharp points. You will learn Betty's method for skinny 1/8" stems the easy way. Flower centers are stuffed to add dimension to the flowers. Embroidery enhances the flowers.

There are several opportunities listed below to take a class with your friends.  Michelle Mitchell and Dianne Hire will be offering workshops.  If you have not attended a workshop in the past, we hope you will do so.  We are very fortunate to have Michelle in our guild, as Edyta Sitar and Dianne Hire will be traveling from a distance.

Annual Pot Luck and Whistle Stop

The doors will open at 5:30 pm for set up and dinner will begin at 6:30. See the newsletter for details.

Whistle Stop: There will be 3 different demonstrations:

Shiva Paint Sticks by Linda Brown
Angelina Fibers by Michelle Mitchell
Foiling by Sue Goeddeke

You will have the opportunity to stop at all 3 demos for approximately 20 minutes before rotating to the next one. We haven't had a whistle stop in quite awhile and they are always fun and informative.

Dianne Hire will present her lecture "Discovery of Quilting". Dianne, a 20-year transplant from Tennessee to Belfast, Maine, is an award-winning fiber artist, quiltmaker, teacher, lecturer, and international exhibitor.

February 20, 2010 - Michelle Mitchell will present a workshop on the reversible Circle Game Quilt as shown atour 2009 quilt show. This workshop is for all level sewers and is good practice for free motion quilting. (A supply list including the sign-up is enclosed in the newsletter)

February 16, 2010 - Carol Loessel will be joining us and signing her new book entitled "Start With Scraps". The book is priced at $8.95.

Michelle will be bringing hand beading kits to make a pin or button. You should be able to get a good start on these during our meeting. The kits include the beads, pin back, background fabric and Peltex form. Bring a beading needle or the smallest quilting needle you can thread (size 10, 11 or 12), Silamide or Nymo beading thread or hand quilting thread, scissors, a 4" hoop and a beading mat or square of cotton batting to hold your beads while you work. The kit fee is $4.00. She'll be bringing samples to the January guild meeting.
